Nauka

Coastal Indian cooking on Mercer Lane, Toronto.

Tuesday to Sunday from 5:30 pm

The room

Forty-two seats, an open kitchen and a long bar at the front. We cook the food of India’s west coast, from Mangalore up to Goa.

The fish comes from two suppliers we have used since we opened. Spices are toasted and ground here every afternoon.

The kitchen

My grandmother cooked in Karwar. Most of this menu is hers, made on a bigger stove.

Nisha Shenoy, chef and owner

Nisha cooked in Mumbai and Toronto for ten years before opening Nauka. She is in the kitchen most nights.
